Nutritious Soya Manchurian

Bored of basic manchurian?? Want to try something new? You are at the right place. This Soya Manchurian is different from normal Veggie or Gobi Manchurian, but taste as good as the traditional Recipe.
Rightly said that 'Necessity is the mother of Invention' . Yesterday when I wanted to make Manchurian (Vegetable), looked in my fridge and found that the main ingredient cabbage is missing. Oops.. And you know what, I was more shocked because only day before yesterday I bought one. I realised that in my hurry I left one bag at the shop itself while coming back. Now what?? So I came up with this substitute in the form of Soya chunks ( i generally don't like Soya ) . But this time it worked really well and we liked it.

So here is my recipe :

Ingredients :
  • Soya chunks : 1 cup
  • 1/2 Small Onion finely chopped
  • 3 Garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 3 Green Chillies slit ( can increase if want more hot)
  • Green onions one bunch finely chopped
  • Ginger 1 inch finely chopped
  • 1 Small Onion diced
  • 1/2 capsicum Diced (can use any type green/yellow/red )
  • Cornflour 2 tsp
  • Soya sauce : 2 tbsp
  • Tomato Ketchup : 2 Tbsp
  • Vinegar: 1 Tbsp
  • Water
  • oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Method :
  1. Soak the Soya chunks in water for 10 mins till soft.
  2. Squeeze the water out from the chunks and deep fry them.Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside.(be careful while frying because little water is still present in the chunks)
  3. Take oil in a pan and put the chopped green and red/yellow onion. Saute for 2 mins.
  4. Add Ginger, Garlic and green chillies and cook for some time till the onion becomes tender.
  5. Add Soya Sauce,Ketchup and vinegar and Cornflour mixed with little water.
  6. Add around 2 cups of water and let it boil.
  7. Now Add the diced onions and capsicum.
  8. Serve hot with fried rice or noodles
  9. Cook for some time
  10. Now add the soya chunks and cook for another 5 mins.
  11. Add salt
  12. Garnish with green onion (green portion)
  13. Serve hot with fried rice or noodles.
